Fun Run

 Kia Ora readers

Welcome back to my blog today I will be talking about what we've done in Fun Run and other stuff. Our Fun Run this year happened at Friday the 25th at November. We had to wear a white shirt if we wanted to get the paint on our shirt and black if we didn't was the paint. This year we've done the fun run at the school field instead of the Kyle park like last year. We did the fun run to raise some money for the Kids Can since they've done a bunch of stuff for our school and other ones. The year 7-10's we're the ones that was included on the Fun Run.

For the Fun Run we we're separated to our years and genders. The year 8 girls we're the ones who went first and had to run for 2 laps around the field. Further more the Fun Run also included a bouncy castle and also some obstacle around the laps. At the first lap we we're only running and the second one we had to got through the bouncy castle, water guns, sponges, the obstacle and the dry paint.

This Fun Run also had some other activities such as tag of war and also had some water fights. Our school also provided some water which was helpful to the ones who forgotten they're drink. My overall experienced was better since I didn't decide to get the paint in my clothes last year. In the Fun Run I saw a lot of smiling faces and colourful shirts which can show that bunch of people enjoyed the Fun Run. It was really good that A lot of people participated on the Fun Run.

Here are some of the photos that was taken through the Fun Run.

Thank you for reading my blog hopefully you've enjoyed reading it! Have a  nice day.

Myths and Legends

 Kia Ora Readers

Welcome back to my blog today I will be discussing about what we have been doing in reading which was learning about the Myths and Legends. For me I liked reading the stories of the Myths and Legends because it has a interesting story line. I also liked the activities that we're included to do after reading the stories. In this week I was proud on doing the disagree and agree statements because I was able to express my thoughts and write about how I agree and disagree about the story. Further more this activity also includes on making some ideas on how to fix the problem of the story. Basically this activity includes creating some sentences to why you agree or disagree about something and also includes creating some other ideas on solving a problem.

I think everything went pretty well except I wasn't able to finish the work in time that I was given, and the screenshot of the work was blurry. But I was able to make my work presentable and with effort.

Here is the activity that I have made.

Thank you for reading my blog please leave a feedback below about this blog post. Hopefully you liked this blog. Have a nice day.

Myths and legends

 Kia Ora Readers

Welcome back to my blog today I will be discussing the things that we did in hurumanu which was learning about the Myths and legends. For the last few days we had been learning about Maui which what this blog is mainly about. But next week we can pick which Myths or legend we can do from different countries. In this hurumanu we had some videos and text that has the story about How Maui slowed the sun. We did a lot of activities such as creating an advertisement who can slow the sun.We also did some things around the main idea and supporting idea which basically is writing about the main idea and the supporting ideas. Furthermore we also did some recall and inferences where we had to answer some questions.

I think everything went well but I wasn't able to finish one slide and the I wasn't also able to save the advertisement but got a screenshot. My favourite part is when we created the advertisement because I was able to pick any poster that I wanted and get to design it.

Here is the story of How Maui stopped the sun.

And here is the screenshot of poster that I have made.

Hopefully you've enjoyed this blog leave a feedback bellow.

Art

 Kia Ora Readers

Welcome back to my blog today I will be talking about on what we are doing in art which was learning/ identifying about the background, foreground, Flora,Foliage, middle ground and repetition. We learned this using some paintings using a jungle painting which has some repetitive things on it. We also annualised some of them and I think everything wen't pretty well.

Here are some of the definitions of it.

Foliage is the leaves, plant. Flora are the plants from a region or era. What's a background? A background is the further-est thing on the painting. What's a fore ground? A foreground is basically the closest thing on the painting or a something that is in the end of the painting. What's a Middle ground? A middle ground is basically between both background and foreground.

Kea

  Kia Ora Readers

Welcome back to my blog today I'll be sharing another one of the DLO's of the Uncle Don Knows Heaps Of Wacky Stuff, today I've decided to do the Kea because of the fact that I saw on the book and I also liked how the Kea looked because it was colourful inside it's feathers. If you've never seen the previous blogs that I have made about the book and DLO well those blogs were basically about this book called  Uncle Don Knows Heaps Of Wacky Stuff which had a lot of facts about the flora and fauna which I found interesting and I also liked how they placed the facts around the whole book pages. The DLO were basically about the flora or fauna that we picked for the week, we also create one DLO every week and read about 4-6 pages once a week. We do this times of things in hurumanu 1 which is Nga Tangata.

For this DLO I used the venngage templates because I liked how the first one turned out and they also had a lot of range of templates to pick from. I think everything went well except the part when I had to save the DLO.

Here is the DLO that I've made, hopefully you can read it properly and not blurry.

This hurumanu was fun to do and researching and learning about the flora and fauna was interesting and fun, and I really enjoyed the part where we were able to make a DLO about them. Thank you for reading this far hopefully you've enjoyed this blog, and I'm pretty sure that this is the last post about this DLO. Leave a comment below of what you think about this blog.

Labour Weekend

Kia Ora Readers!

Welcome back to my blog today I will be talking about what we are doing here in wananga which is writing about what we did in labour day. Using S P I L E S which stands for:
  •  S - Social activities (Friends, whanau)
  •  P - Physical (e.g bike riding, running, sport)
  •  I - Intellectual (e.g something you did to extend your thinking & learning such as reading, watching a demo on YouTube etc.)
  • L - Likes ( things you enjoyed doing)
  •  E - Emotional ( what sort of emotions during the break such as happy, sad, frustrated)
  • S - Success (things I did that were successful e.g cooking, building something.

In the labour weekend I also accomplished some activities with my friends such as hanging out with them at the mall, going to the church anniversary. Further more I went to Hagley Park in the labour day to see the flowers bloom. Besides that I also went for walks in the parks including Hagley park with my family and some friends that I encounter with. We went and played some badminton in the park with my friend. I also watched some tutorials to bake some cakes and cupcakes for the birthday that I was attending to, Me and my sister also watched some videos on how to paint some flowers.

I painted some flowers and some mountains to cure my boredom and they turned out better than I expected, I also watched some anime such as Ao haru ride. and some k-drama's because my phone was broken for a few days. My emotions were all over the place sometimes I felt happy and sometimes I felt sad, but I was also nervous when I wen't to the church anniversary because I wasn't close with anyone on the church. I think the painting was successful because it looked better than I expected and I was also able to create other flowers that I've never done successfully.

Thank you for reading this far, I hope you enjoyed reading it. How was your Labour Weekend? Did you do anything interesting? hopefully you've enjoyed it!

Kiwi's

Kia Ora Readers!

Welcome back to my blog today I will be sharing about what we have been doing for for the last few weeks here in hurumanu, which is the reading the Uncle Don Knows Heaps Of Wacky Stuff, this book contains lost of interesting facts and other stuff to research about. Every time we read 5-6 pages we also have to create a DLO about it. Today we were reading pages 17-22, the book had a lot of interesting things to research about, but For this week I wanted to create the DLO about the Kiwi's because of the facts I saw that was written on the book, and Iv'e also heard that they're the only bird that has nostrils at the end of their beak.

This time I decided to give Venngage a try since I've been using canva for a while, Venngage had a lot of nice posters and other stuff but I decided to do a green themed poster since it also includes nature. Venngage also allows you to change the colour of the Icons that you've chosen.

Here is a Screenshot of the DLO that I have created since I wasn't able to save it.

Things went well in my opinion except when I wanted to download the DLO it didn't let me so I had to take a screenshot which was kinda blurry.

Thank you for reading my blog hopefully you've learned something from reading this blog. I suggest reading Uncle Don Knows Heaps Of Wacky Stuff because it's interesting and has a different way of how they placed the texts and facts.

Eels

Kia Ora Readers!
Welcome back to my blog today I will be talking about what we have been doing in hurumanu 1( Nga tangata) this hurumanu is about reading, and for the last few weeks we were reading this book called Uncle Don Knows Heaps Of Wacky Stuff which has a lot of interesting facts about Flora and fauna. We also were doing some DLO about the creatures and other stuff we think that is interesting. This week I choose to do the Eels because I think it's interesting and has good facts on the book that I was reading. I also picked it because of the facts that I have seen in the book that I have never know about it.

Here is the poster that I have made for the Eels

The Eels were really interesting to research about, and I also learned a lot of stuff about them. I also like using canva because it looks more interesting and fun to read because of all the designs that they have than just using a google doc. I also think that this hurumanu went well because I really enjoyed reading the book because it wasn't really like the other books it was more fun to read because of how they placed the paragraphs around the book.
Here is one of the pages of the book that I was reading.
I hope you liked this blog and leave a comment below of what you think of this blog. Have a nice day!

Drama

Kia Ora Readers!

Welcome back to my blog today I will be talking about what we have been doing for the last few weeks here in drama. I've been here in drama for the whole term this term and through those years I've really liked it because of how the teacher thought us the lessons and we also did some games that are about drama to improve our acting skills and other stuff. Drama thought me some lessons such as how to act your role properly, and it also improved my confidence of standing on the stage.

Here in drama we did a lots of stuff like acting and we also played some games like:

  • Wink murderer-  which basically needs quite a bit of people to play it, two players has to be the murderer and detective. The detective has to go outside so he/she won't know who the murderer is, and the other players has to pick the murderer for the game. The murderers job is to wink to kill the other players before he/she gets caught.
  • Hide n seek- this game is also famous since a bunch of people know this game, this game includes a seeker to find the players and the other players have to hide, and whoever gets caught the last wins.
  • Night in the museum- This game is really good on testing how still you can be for a certain amount of time. This game needs a police that checks the museum and the rest of the players needs to be a statue of something and stay still till the game is over. We also played some games like park bench, JFK, and you.
In my personal opinion the drama this term is really fun because the teacher is nice like other one's and our teacher this term is also really good at making things interesting and fun. Thank you for reading my blog I hope you enjoyed reading it! leave a comment below on what you think about it.

Willow trees

 Kia Ora readers!

Welcome back to my blog and today I will be talking about what we've done last week on hurumanu 1 also called as Nga Tangata (hurumanu 1 is about reading). In this hurumanu we we're doing some DLO about the creatures and plants that were on the book. We basically have to read the book pages 8-11 and pick a plant to research about and make a DLO, for me I picked the Willow tree because of the facts that we're written on the book, and I also find the willow trees good looking. I used canva for this DLO since I've used it for almost all of my DLO. I think everything went well except when I had to save the DLO, it didn't let me save it but only let me to take a screenshot which game the DLO a blue box around the text.

Here is the poster that I have created for this hurumanu.

I hope you liked the blog, leave a comment below on what you think about this blog post.

Flora and fauna

 Kia Ora Readers

Welcome back to my blog today I will be talking about what we had been doing last week at hurumanu 1 which is making DLO about what we picked on the book pages 4-7. For me I decided to pick the Paikea because of the facts I saw on the book about it, and they also looked interesting to research about.

Here are some facts that I have found out.

  • According to a legend the Paikea is originally from New Zealand from the Pacific Islands, Paikea are also humpback whales which can live for 50years or more. They travel about 7,000 kilometers each year.

  • Pakia is the youngest and also the favourite son of the chief Uenuku that was from the Islands of Mangai in the present day Cook islands. Since Paikea was the favourite it made his elder brother jealous and tried to plan on killing him and tell Uenuku that he drowned. But the plan didn’t work because Paikea overheard them, and the plan failed.

  • The Paikea is important to the Maori people because it’s the key link to the ancient Hawaiki homeland. It’s also known as the biggest/large whale in New Zealand/ Aotearoa.

  • Humpback whales weigh about 80,000 pound and are 6 feet long, and in the southern hemisphere there are about six humpback whales.

Ukulele

Kia Ora readers today I will be talking about what we had been doing on hurumanu 2 which is counting the beat, and the purpose of this blog is to show what I had been doing on hurumanu 2 which is counting the beat. Hurumanu 2 is about music like learning the generation of it, genres, and learning how to play the instruments like Guitar,Ukulele and more.

For the last few days we had been learning on playing the Ukulele by using YouTube tutorials and some tips from my friends that knew how to play it. The first thing that we did in this hurumanu was to discuss about what we already know about the Ukulele such as the parts of it and types, after that Mrs. Allan brought us some Ukulele's for us to use. But I wasn't there to play it because I was at ESOL.

Here is a photo of the parts of the Ukulele.

Here is also some types of the Ukulele

On this hurumanu I have learned the parts of the Ukulele and learned how to play some songs using YouTube I hope that you enjoyed reading my blog post. Make sure you drop a comment about what you think about this blog.

Stomp

 Kia Ora Readers!

Welcome back to my blog today I will be talking about what we had been doing for the past few weeks which is making our own music using auto tuned instruments or non auto tuned instruction, most people used sticks, can, and more stuff's, apparently I wasn't able to do it because I wasn't there when the day they did it. We also did some researches about the music through the decades and here is one of the one that I made.

In 1900's the music that were famous at that time was jazz, blue’s,folk, country and gospel, and most of the songs has dance steps on it.

One of the songs that were popular at 1900's was “Tell me Pretty Maiden” the artist of the songs was Leslie Stuart and was originally made at 1899, this songs was also played by the floradora. Floradora are basically an Edwardian musical comedy, the floradora became one of the first successful Broadway musicals on the 20th century, Floradora had successfully performed 455 times.

There was also a lot of famous bands at 1900's, and one of them was “ The Beatles” this band was an English rock band that became the most successful act at the 20th century, this band came up with their music, film, literature, art and fashion that made them more popular. The people who were at that band was Lenon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo star.

Football/Soccer

 Kia Ora Readers

Welcome back to my blog, Today I will be talking about what we have been doing for the past two weeks which is Football/Soccer. For the past two weeks we had been learning some rules and tricks to do in football. For the past two weeks we had been learning a lot of tricks to do and one of them is the dribbling, which you have to hit the ball with the side of your foot. We also learned how to stop the ball by using the inside of your feet or the front, and we also did passing which we have basically just have to kick the ball to another person.

Drills

  • Passing
  • Shooting
  • Dribbling
  • Juggling
  • Changing the directions
  • Stooping the ball

One of the main rules that we have to follow on Football/Soccer was not to touch the ball with your hand except if your the Goa-lee. Each team must have a minimum of 11 players.

P.E

 Kia Ora Readers

Welcome back to my blog today here in P.E we were doing some stuff around netball, we also did some drills, fitness and games, here are somethings that we played: piggy in the middle to practice our toss by tossing the ball to the other person, bounce pass to pass the ball even if someone is blocking you  and chest pass so you can pass the ball directly to the person you are aiming for,and so far im really enjoying it. MY favourite part of netball is probably when we play a round of netball game, that's my favourite part because it makes my defending better.

Here are some of the main rules that we had to follow.

  • No stepping with the ball
  • No dribbling
  • No short pass
  •  Stand a meter away from the person you are blocking.
  • No jumping with the ball.
  • When someone shoots on the ball, the ball must got back to the center.
This are the positions that we had on Netball.
  • GA= Goal attack, this person is allowed on the circle but not on the other teams circle.
  • GD= Goal defence, this person defends the goal attack and allowed where Goal attack is.
  • WA= Wing attack, this person is not allowed on the circle, but allowed on the outside of the circle.
  • WD= Wing defence, this person is basically the same as the Wing attack but only defends.
  • GS= Goal Shoot, this person is basically allowed on the circle but cannot pass the yellow line.
  • GK= This person cannot shoot, this person mainly do is defend the Goal shoot from shooting on the goal.
  • C=Center, this person stands in the middle where the circle is in, this person basically gets the ball first from the rest because he is the one who gives the ball to the people on their team.
For P.E we had approximately had 3 games, and has two weeks to play it, and each week we had two lessons of it. My favourite positions are Center and Goal keep After netball we were gonna go start playing football/soccer.

Kiwi innovators

 Kia Ora Readers

Welcome back to my blog this past weeks we had been doing some works about the inventions that were created or made here in New Zealand like EasiYo, and pavlova. We also had to read some articles about the invention that we had pick which has to be latest 3x, For one of my inventions I picked the EasiYo, which is a Yogurt  maker. This Yogurt make is much healthier than the normal Yogurt that is there on the super marker according to the article.

Here are some questions that was there on the google slide.

Who invented EasiYo yogurt? The person that invented the EasiYo was Len Light and the reason why he did it was because he had eight children who loved yogurts but then he was worried because the cheap yogurts didn’t have that much nutrients which means it’s not healthy for the children's but then if the buys the healthy one it will be too expensive since he had 8 children's .

Why do you think they chose the name “EasiYo”?

I think they chose the name EasiYo because the Easi represents that it's easy to use and the Yo for the Yogurt.

Why does yogurt not remain healthy for very long, even in the supermarket fridge? Even though the yogurt is made by fruits sometimes it’s not healthy because of the amount of time that it has been stuck in the fridge, and as that time goes the bacteria will start to grow more and more and it will be worse and that’s why sometimes the yogurt is not healthy but if the yogurt was made at the same time that your gonna eat the yogurt then it will be most likely to be healthy to eat.

What does the word deteriorate mean? The word deteriorate means that it will get worse and worse.

What steps are required to make yogurt with the EasiYo system?

To make the yogurt on the EasiYo system you have to mix the powder with cold water, and then put some warm water on the thermos and leave it on a bench overnight.

When was EasiYo sold?

The  EasiYo was introduced 1992 at Auckland and the  EasiYo was soon sold in 2010.

We also had to create our own type of flavour of yogurt, and make a packaging   about it, I decided to pick my flavor as the boba drink because I love to drink boba.

Thank you for reading my blog I really appreciate it. Hope you liked it!

Here is the pavlova one.

Why is the Pavlova a controversial  dessert?

The pavlova is a controversial dessert because two countries claimed that they have created the dessert.

Who was Anna Pavlova?

Anna Pavlova is a ballet dancer that has visited New Zealand and Australia, Anna Pavlova was also named as a dessert called pavlova that was created here in New Zealand .

What is a meringue?

Meringue is a dessert that is sorta similar to pavlova, and the meringue was made in 1720, and the person who created the dessert is Gasparini. This dessert is made by beaten eggs and sugar.

When and where was Mrs. Mc. Rae’s meringues cake recipe published?

The recipe of the cake was published in Wellington in 1927.

Who was the first to name a large cream and fruit topped meringue cake the pavlova?

The first name for the dessert was pavlova which is a name of a ballerina dancer that has visited New Zealand.

Do you think the pavlova had a New Zealand or Australian inventor? In my opinion I think New Zealand created the pavlova because in the article it says that the creator of the pavlova was a New Zealander.

We also had to create our own design of what type of pavlova design we want and toppings, mines pretty simple it just has some cream and chocolate on it.

The last things that I picked for the Kiwi Innovators was the Spring free Trampoline, and here are the questions that were there on the google slide.

Where is Dr.Alexandra a professor?

Dr.Alexandra was a professor of Canterbury University.

What was the problem that Dr.Alexandra was trying to solve?

The problem that Dr. Alexandra was trying to solve the problem of the amount of children's that keep breaking their bones because of the trampoline, so he decided to create a safe trampoline for the kids so they won’t get hurt anymore whenever they play on the trampoline.

In the spring free trampoline design, what is used instead of springs? In the spring free trampoline design instead of using spring they used fibreglass reinforced rods.

Why was the trampoline tested with 3 million bounces?

The trampoline was tested by 3 million bounces to show 10 year of children jumping on the trampoline.

Why do you think trampoline is more popular due to covid?

In my opinion the trampoline began to be more popular due to the covid because you can use it at home without leaving the house, and some kids love to jump on the trampoline when they’re bored.

I also created a poster about the safety poster for the trampoline.

There isn't that much safety things needed because the spring free trampoline were build to give more protections than the normal trampolines that was

out there.

Thank yuo for reading my blog! I hope you enjoyed reading it!
